The Legal Resources Centre from Moldova organises the sixth edition of the Justice and Anticorruption Reforms Forum on September 10 and 11, 2024, in Chișinău. For a span of two days, hundreds of justice professionals, civil society experts, policy makers, and development partners of the Republic of Moldova will be focused on reforms concerning the rule of law.

As one of the most significant forums for professional discussion, the event’s goals are to identify the best reform solutions and to lower the risks associated with continuing justice and anticorruption reforms.

The process of external evaluation of judges and prosecutors, along with advancements in fighting corruption, will be the main topics of this year’s Forum. In addition, the Justice and Anticorruption Reforms Forum seeks to highlight inspiring anticorruption stories and leading ideas and visions for the justice of the future.

“It has already become a tradition for the LRCM to bring together each year the main actors responsible for judicial reforms and the fight against corruption to discuss on a single platform the current state of these fields and how they can be improved so that citizens benefit from a robust, fair and efficient justice system,” said Ilie Chirtoacă, LRCM Executive Director, who emphasized the importance of collaboration and joint commitments to generate the necessary changes.

The four major themes around which the discussions at the Forum will take place are:

  • Vetting insights and lessons learned.
  • The future of justice.
  • Outcomes of anticorruption efforts.
  • Inspirational stories and achievements in justice and anticorruption.

The Forum will also feature keynote speakers such as Sir William Browder KCMG, CEO Hermitage Capital Management, Head of the Global Magnitsky Justice Campaign and Author of Red Notice and Freezing Order, or investigative journalist Emilia Șercan, known for exposing several Romanian officials who plagiarized in their doctoral theses.

The Forum will be opened by the Speaker of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, together with the US Chargé d’Affaires ad-interim to the Republic of Moldova, Nina Maria Fite, and the EU Ambassador to Chișinău, Jānis Mažeiks.
