Free Speech Watch: Researching legal challenges to freedom of expression and strengthening journalistic independence

The project aims to strengthen the professional capacity of journalists in Moldova and ensure an enabling environment for them to express freely. Our mission is to empower journalists to become more resilient in their work, address legal barriers that impede access to information and freedom of expression, and promote a robust and diversified media landscape.

Activities within the project include:  

– Developing a legal research report on Supreme Court of Justice case-law involving journalists and media outlets.

– Drafting legal opinions and advocating for the improvement of the legal framework on freedom of expression and access to information.

– Organising training activities for journalists and providing assistance in developing content on subjects related to the rule of law, justice, and human rights.

– Holding offline press clubs with journalists.
