Find out who are the human rights defenders and how someone can become one.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Human Rights Defenders are those individuals who act peacefully to promote and protect human rights and fundamental freedoms and whose work is protected by the UN Declaration on Human Rights Defenders, which is ratified by the majority of Member States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong><em>&#8220;It is important that both citizens and HRDs themselves know what activities they can undertake and the rights of human rights defenders,&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> said Victoria Mereu\u021b\u0103, legal officer at the LRCM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<iframe class=\"embed-pdf-viewer\" src=\"https:\/\/crjm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/infografic_RO_Cine-este-un-ADO.pdf\" height=\"1200\" width=\"400\" title=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/crjm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/infografic_RO_Cine-este-un-ADO.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">infographic<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s conclusion is that anyone can be a Human Rights Defender, as long as they recognise the universality of human rights for all, without distinction, and act peacefully. A human rights defender does not necessarily need to have a legal degree.
