SUMMARY:Series of trainings for judges, prosecutors and lawyers on recent changes in criminal procedure
DESCRIPTION:The Legal Resources Centre from Moldova (LRCM) together with the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), with the financial support of the Soros Foundation Moldova, is organizing 10 joint trainings for judges, prosecutors and lawyers on recent changes in criminal procedure.\nEach training will last one day, from 9:00 to 17:00, and will take place in Chișinău from 19 February to 19 March 2024.\nAmong the topics to be discussed in the training are:\n\nCompetence of the National Anticorruption Centre and specialised prosecutors’ offices.\nSpecial investigative activity.\nAccess of the injured party to criminal investigation materials.\nAudio/video recording of criminal investigation actions.\nCommunication with the parties and appeals at the criminal investigation stage.\nPreliminary hearing.\nHearing by teleconference.\nGrounds of appeal against decisions of the courts of appeal.\nInadmissibility of appeals.\nPublic hearings at the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ).\nJurisdiction of the SCJ to examine appeals against decisions of the courts of appeal.\nExtraordinary remedies in criminal procedure.\n\nThe series of trainings is organised within the framework of the project “Safeguarding human rights through a more transparent and accountable criminal justice system”, implemented by the Legal Resources Centre from Moldova with the financial support of the Soros Foundation Moldova.
